Kaithal Police Issue Advisory for Safe Driving During Foggy Weather

Drivers Urged to Take Extra Precautions Amid Fog and Low Visibility

Kaithal, December 17:
With the onset of dense fog and mist during winter, Kaithal Police have issued an important advisory for vehicle drivers to ensure road safety. Superintendent of Police Upasana has appealed to motorists to exercise extra caution while driving to protect their own lives as well as the safety of other road users.

SP Upasana stated that fog and mist significantly reduce visibility on roads, increasing the risk of accidents. She emphasized that by strictly following traffic rules and adopting safe driving practices, drivers can play a crucial role in preventing road mishaps.

Check Weather Conditions Before Traveling

Issuing the advisory, SP Upasana advised drivers to check weather forecasts before starting their journey. In case of dense fog, travelers should postpone their trips until weather conditions improve, if possible. She also strictly warned against driving under the influence of alcohol or any intoxicating substances.

Maintain Slow Speed and Ensure Vehicle Readiness

Drivers have been urged to maintain a controlled and slow speed during foggy conditions. SP Upasana advised motorists to ensure that their vehicles are in proper working condition, including:

  • Headlights, tail lights, and fog lights
  • Indicators and brakes
  • Tyres and windshield wipers
  • Battery and vehicle heating system

She emphasized the use of low-beam headlights during fog and keeping indicators on so that other vehicles can easily notice their presence. Fog lights should be used whenever visibility becomes extremely poor.

Maintain Safe Distance and Stay Focused

The police advisory also stressed maintaining a safe distance between vehicles. In very low visibility conditions, drivers are advised to follow road lane markings as a guide and keep full concentration on the road while driving.

Avoid Roadside Parking and Risky Overtaking

SP Upasana cautioned truck and heavy vehicle drivers against parking their vehicles on roads near hotels or dhabas. In case of technical issues, vehicles should be moved off the road and parked at a safe distance to avoid collisions.

The advisory further warned drivers to avoid risky overtaking, unnecessary lane changes, and stopping on freeways or busy roads during foggy conditions.

Every Life Is Precious

Concluding the advisory, SP Upasana said that every citizen’s life is more valuable than time or money for their family and society. She appealed to all drivers to strictly follow traffic rules and cooperate with the police to reduce road accident statistics during the winter fog season.
