Swift Police Action Restores Public Faith in Kaithal

In recent days, Kaithal police have taken strong and swift action in multiple crime cases. These include a robbery involving a scrap dealer, a large-scale cyber fraud case, and the arrest of a liquor smuggler who had been evading court. On April 28, a scrap dealer in Kaithal became a target of daylight robbery. He had received a phone call from a man pretending to be named Praveen. The caller lured him to the Chandana T-Point on the Kaithal-Narwana highway, claiming he wanted to sell scrap.

The victim, from Nanakpuri Colony, reached the location with his cart and bike. There, two young men approached him and demanded ₹5,000. They claimed they would give him scrap in return. When he asked to see the scrap, they refused. Suspicious, he began moving toward Titaram turn.

Shortly after, the same men followed him on a bike. They stopped him, assaulted him, and fled after snatching ₹8,000 and a silver bracelet from his hand. The victim immediately registered a complaint at the Kalayat Police Station.

Arrest and Recovery

Following the complaint, the Special Detective Unit (SDU) swung into action. Under the guidance of SI Ramesh Chand and ASI Ajit Singh, a team was formed. The investigation led to the arrest of two accused: Gurdeep alias Praveen from Manas and Rakesh from Patel Nagar, Narwana.

Police recovered ₹6,000 in stolen cash, the silver bracelet, and the bike used in the robbery. Both accused were produced in court and sent to judicial custody.

Their arrest has restored a sense of security among traders and daily wage workers in the area. People are now more confident in reporting crimes, knowing that swift justice is possible.

Cyber Fraud Worth ₹14.55 Lakh Busted

In a separate case, a mobile shop owner in Kaithal fell victim to a sophisticated cyber scam. The complainant, Nishant from Amargarh Gamdi, owns a shop named MS JMC Traders on Devigarh Road. He used to purchase mobile phones online using gift vouchers.

On January 18, 2024, he searched for gift voucher sellers online and came across a profile named Sikander on LinkedIn. The man claimed to represent a firm called “Reward Future.” After a brief WhatsApp conversation, Sikander shared a fake website and offered vouchers worth ₹5 lakh in exchange for ₹4.85 lakh.

Nishant sent firm documents and KYC details to the scammer. Over the next two months—between January 22 and March 17—he transferred ₹14.55 lakh in multiple transactions, thinking he would receive discounted gift vouchers.

Trap Set, Accused Caught

After realizing he had been duped, Nishant filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police Station. A case was registered, and a team led by PSI Shubhranshu and SI Ravinder Singh took charge of the investigation.

Soon, police traced and arrested the accused, Sikander Talyan, a resident of Chur village in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He was brought into custody and granted a 2-day police remand by the court. Interrogation is ongoing, and further recoveries are expected.

This case has served as a major warning to citizens about online fraud. It also underlines the police department’s dedication to tracking down even high-tech criminals.

Absconding Liquor Smuggler Nabbed

The third major development came in a liquor smuggling case from July 20, 2024. On that day, police caught three men smuggling 228 bottles of country-made liquor in a vehicle at Chakku Ladana, near Ramthali turn.

The accused were identified as Amandeep, Vijay, and Rajesh Kumar from Sauntha village. They were arrested and later released on bail. However, after being granted bail, the accused failed to appear in court and disappeared.

Due to their continuous absence, the court declared them Proclaimed Offenders (PO) on February 28, 2025.

Police Persistence Pays Off

Acting on SP Aastha Modi’s orders, a PO-tracking campaign was launched. The team, led by SI Om Prakash and SI Satish Kumar, succeeded in arresting Rajesh Kumar. He will now face court proceedings as per legal process.
